We are always looking for ways to make our services easier for you. Our pre-authorized debit (PAD) program is a way to pay your annual renewal fees for the payment of your licensing fee for the upcoming year. Once a month, an installment payment will be automatically withdrawn from your bank account. So you will not have to pay your fees in one lump sum.
Questions and Answers
You can only sign up if you are renewing your licence. If you hold a current licence, you can join the program anytime.
Log in to the registrant portal for nurses and select “Sign up for PAD” from the left menu. Then, enter your banking information.
You can sign up any time, but if you enroll after the first withdrawal date, your payments may not cover your full renewal fee. If this happens, you will need to pay the remaining balance after completing your renewal application.
If you enroll before October 31, payments will be withdrawn on the 14th of each month. Payments start on November 14 and end on July 14 of the following year. Each payment will be:
| Designation | Payment on the 14th of each month | Total Payment |
|---|---|---|
| LPN | $41.30 | $371.70 |
| RN | $62.84 | $565.56 |
| RPN | $62.84 | $565.56 |
| NP | $74.43 | $669.87 |
Each payment will be applied to your licensing fee for the upcoming year. If you enroll this year, for example, your payments will go toward your 2026-27 licensing fee.
During the renewal process, you will complete your application as usual. Your PAD payments will automatically apply to your renewal invoice.
Note: The first year you join the program, it may seem that you are paying the same fees back-to-back. We can assure you that you are not.
If your payment is not accepted by the bank, you will be charged a failed payment fee of $40 plus HST. If your payment is returned a second time, your subscription to the PAD program will be cancelled. Payment of the failed payment fee will be required for renewal.
No, you do not need to re-enroll each year. The PAD subscription is continuous. We do encourage you to log in to the portal and review your information for accuracy.
Opting out is simple. Log in to the registrant portal for nurses, go to “My PAD Payments,” and click “Cancel Subscription.” Any fees you have paid so far can be refunded or left on your account to go toward next year’s renewal fee. If you wish to have fees refunded, please contact finance@nsnmr.ca, request a refund, and include your name and licence number.
If you were in enrolled in the PAD program but did not renew your licence, your PAD subscription will be cancelled automatically.
Any PAD payments already taken will be refunded to the same bank account they were withdrawn from.
