Licence renewal is now open for all nurses in Nova Scotia!
The licence renewal period opens today, September 2, 2026, and will close on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
To be eligible to practise on November 1, 2026, you must renew your licence before the renewal period ends. Please renew your licence as soon as possible to avoid any last-minute delays that could affect your practice.
Please note: The annual renewal process is only for nurses holding full year practicing licences. Renew your 4-month conditional licence by its expiration date.

Access your Receipt:
Login to the nurse registrant portal. On your main page, under ‘invoices’ choose ‘include paid’ to see your receipt for your current licensure year.
Proof of Licensure
We will contact you by email to confirm your licence has been renewed. You will then be listed in our Search for a Nurse directory. If you are checking your 2026-2027 licence before the October 31 deadline, click the ‘i’ or ‘Details’ to see the future-dated licence.
Your Accountability
If you practise without a licence even for a day you could receive a written warning, fine or even face a complaint to our Professional Conduct Services.

New Registration Requirement for Applicants Beginning Dec 1, 2026
Beginning Dec 1, 2026, all new applicants for registration and licensure with NSNMR must be a Canadian citizen or legally entitled to live and work in Canada. This will not affect your renewal for this year but will it be a renewal requirement for all nursing registrants starting in August 2027.
