New Controlled Substances Regulations begin Oct. 1st
On Oct. 1, 2026, the new federal government Controlled Substances Regulations (CSR) will come into effect. There are several key changes that impact midwives practising in hospitals and NP practice.

Renewal for Nurses - Just over a month to go!
We are nearing the halfway mark of the renewal period for nurses. Be sure to renew your license sooner than later to avoid any last minute delays. The new licensure year begins November 1st, 2026.

New residency requirements coming Dec.1st
Beginning Dec 1, 2026, legal authorization to work in Canada will be a requirement for registration and licensure with NSNMR. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application to be eligible for registration and licensure.
This is a new requirement for all regulated health professions in Nova Scotia under the provincial Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
